I don’t “do” resolutions. {Happy 2011}

I’ve never made a new year resolution. Ever. True story.

Why? Because I’m way too impatient to wait until something like a brand new year to start doing something or work toward a goal. Silly, maybe, but that’s just me. When I want to actually do something, I tend to leap before I look and go mach ten with my hair on fire. Waiting to implement resolutions just isn’t my thing.

Wow, I’m the new year’s party pooper, aren’t I? To those of you who are actually able to make resolutions & stick to them – I applaud you.

Don’t get me wrong, I do like the whole feeling of a fresh start… a new chapter…. wiping the slate clean… {whatever tickles your fancy.}

In an attempt to be somewhat in the spirit of things regarding self betterment, goals and all the countdown/top some number lists during this time of year, I’ll leave you with this:

Ghandi’s Top Ten Fundamentals for Changing the World.

In other news, I’ll be starting some fun new things around here for 2011, including Photo 365one photo taken each day for all of 2011. The Flickr gallery with the daily photo will be up shortly. Anyone else doing a photo 365? Leave a link in the comment to share!

So, now I’m wondering if I’m the only resolution rebel….

Do you make new year’s resolutions? If no, why? If yes, what’s this years??

{leave it in the comments, yo!}

P.S. – New design!! Like it? I’m. in. love.

    Your new design looks freaking amazing!

    New design is gorgeous! My mom always said her NYR is to quit smoking, since she doesn’t and has never smoked it’s a very attainable goal!ha. I haven’t set any, and I don’t think I ever have…

    Not so much into the resolutions…more like a “theme” or “life motto” for the year. Haven’t decided on one for this year yet. Still working on it! Love the Ghandi quote btw. Very inspirational! Have you checked out the new Living Graciously blog yet? I’ve been hard at work rolling it out this week, and now I need all my blog friends support to get it rolling! You remember what it was like just getting a new blog off the ground… Here’s the addy: http://living-graciously.blogspot.com

    I’m quite in love with the new design, so fresh, so clean. l.o.v.e.

    I stopped doing resolutions – simply because they’re meant to be broken and I don’t want to break something. ;) I make goals and work towards them. I haven’t figured out my goals for this year yet… one minor (yet huge goal) is to lose the last 5lbs I’ve been working on, which will put me at a weight loss total of 45lbs since April. :)

    Also… I’m totally diggin’ that starbucks drink in your header… now I want tea. thanks.

    I did photo 365 last year but life got in the way and come September it was not every day. In 2011 I hope to make it all the way through the year. It is a lot of fun to look back on the pictures every day. You may also want to check out photoblog.com which is what I used to do it (it allows for a narrative or not if you want). I took my favorites from each month last year and made a calendar for this year. Its lots of fun! Enjoy :)

    I like your philosophy on resolutions. Why should one wait an entire year to make a change? My resolutions are generally my “winter projects”.

  • http://www.designerwife.com/ Lindsay {Designer Wife}

    Thanks, Erin! Totally agree and I’m right there with you on the winter projects – I’ve got a LONG list of those going right now! :)

    Last year, I didn’t hear about it until just after the first of February and I didn’t want to jump in with such a late start, so I’ve been waiting SO long for this, lol. Thanks for the link, I’ll check it out! :)

    Aww, thanks Lauren! So glad you like the new look, too :)

    Right there with ya on the resolutions are meant to be broken! Cheer’s to good old fashion goal setting :) That is so awesome about your weight loss – such an accomplishment!! Keep rocking it out, girl, and you’ll drop those last five with no problem!

    Oh, and you know I just HAD to put one of my Sbux lattes in my header. It’s so “me”. Haha!

    Oooh, I like the idea of a theme for the year. That’s fun! SO excited to hear about your new blog – as soon as I’m off of hubs computer and back on mine, I will make sure to bookmark it! You know you’ve got my support with it :)

    Thanks, Kristina!! Haha, I’m loving your mom’s resolution – that’s the way to do it!! :)

    Well thank you, dahling! :)

    I do some resolutions, but not ones such as losing weight. We create a list of goals for the next year, which even includes parties we’re going to host. It’s more fun that way. :)

    I did a photo blog in 2010, and think I’ll keep it up for 2011. My photo blog is http://www.picturemylife365.com – and it often focuses on Chloe the cat.

    Here is mine if you want to see how it works. Some pics A+ some F at best. http://www.photoblog.com/sarah6907. Enjoy!

  • http://www.designerwife.com/ Lindsay {Designer Wife}

    oooh, I love the idea of adding parties to the list. So fun! And I love that you take lots of pics of your cat, too! ;)

    Thanks, Sarah! Loooove the photos of your pup playing in the snow :)

    I agree – I hate resolutions! They always seem to emphasize the things you “shouldn’t” be doing. That’s why I love the goals – brings on a very “can do” attitude. :) I love Photo 365…I want to do one last year but never got around to it. Perhaps I should add that to the goals list (even though I’m already a day behind)! Happy New Year!

    Agreed! I love that I can use goals as actionable items. Would love to see you do a Photo 365 – you have plenty of time to catch up with just one day :)
