On procrastination {& being lazy}

Yesterday morning, I was up early and on a mission. I finally worked in a day on my calendar that was to be solely dedicated to housework. No internet, no twitter, no facebook, no blog reading.. nothing. Unplugged.

It was pretty great for a change.

For the most part, I stuck to it. I did cheat and peek at some emails on my phone, replied to a few, and just checked in on twitter once or twice. Not allowing myself to crack open the MacBook really, really kept me on track. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a productive house cleaning day in my life.

The floors were swept, laundry was caught up, clean sheets on all the beds, scrubbed the kitchen, cleaned off my desk and even hung some new prints on the walls.

And now there’s today.

Yesterday put me just a bit behind on things, so I already had today’s routine planned out when I went to bed last night.

Tuesday’s Schedule

6am – wake up, check emails on phone while laying in bed to get an idea of what & who needed replied to.

6:15am – Chai tea latte while watching I Love Lucy on TV Land for 15 minutes to get my brain awake.

6:30am – Move to the office, check calendar/daily agenda and pull up today’s to-do list.

6:35am – social media.

6:40am- Emails. Send/reply/forward and action to get inbox to zero.

7am – Start writing on articles & blog posts due this week.

10am – workout/p90x.

11am – check emails, catch up on blog reader.

noon – break for lunch.

1pm-4pm writing.

What Really Happened

6am – woke up, glanced over emails.

6:15am – chai tea latte, watched I Love Lucy.

8am – turned channel to TBS and watched an hour of Yes, Dear.

9am – stayed on TBS and watched an hour of Fresh Prince.

10am – Oh, look, Will & Grace is on TV Land for an hour.

11am- finally go in to office. Open computer, check facebook & twitter.

11:10am – decide that I can’t work on an empty stomach, so head to kitchen to make some noms.

11:20am – I should call my BFF, haven’t talked to her in over a day.

11:23am-2:08pm – Talk on the phone.

2:16pm – write this blog post.

Meh. Tomorrow’s a new day, right?

LOL. It’s funny how you go to bed with a plan and then wake up and a new plan just sort of takes place. The same thing happens to me. I get up thinking oh I can get some posts written and send out some emails but get side tracked by the Cooking Channel or heading to SouthPark.

i love it! at first I was reading the “schedule” and I was going to comment how amazing it was that you can get up at 6:30am to work from home… but, then I read what really happened. I’m still impressed with you – because I am glad you are being REAL. telling the world what you watched tv and indulged in lazy, you time! good for you! and yes, tomorrow IS a new day!
