30 Days of Thanks: Day 2

I’m so excited about all the tweets and messages that you guys are sharing! Love all of this thankfulness!

In case you missed it, we’re just starting off the 30 Days of Thanks, which I posted about yesterday. There’s a handout with writing and/or photo prompts, a cute little blog badge, and a link up in which you can share your own posts! All of that info is here, I’d love to have you join us!

Day 2: An animal you are thankful for.

Gosh, where do I start? If you know me, you know that my soft spot is animals. In my family, all of the furry, four-legged kids are included like they were humans. Yea, we’re those kind of people. Animal welfare and animal rescue charities are my charitable passions.

That being said, I have tons of animals in my life that I’m thankful for. Today, I’ll show my thankfulness for Daphne, my heartbeat at my feet.

I adopted Daphne back in 2004. I had a Pom growing up, Foxy, who meant so, so much to me. She was with us from the time I was in 2nd grade (I still have my school journal in which there is an entry from the day we brought her home!) until she passed away in 2003. It was heartbreaking, it was the first time I ever saw my Dad cry, and I swore that I’d never have a dog again – I just couldn’t take the short time that they were with us. As time went on, I decided that Foxy would want me to give another pup the loving home and family that she had. So, that’s where Daphne came in.

It’s joked about now that I share custody of Daphne with my parents. My dad has this “dog whisperer” thing going on or something – I’ve never seen a dog not fall madly in love with him. When it was time for me to move out and move in to mine and Hubs new house, Daphne just couldn’t take the separation. She would get insanely excited and spin in circles when asked; “You wanna go to mama and papa’s?” When it came time for me to move to NC, she stayed with my parents… and she loves it when I visit.

Daphne’s a source of comfort, support, unconditional love, and instant happiness. I’m so thankful for this sweet little pup. :)

Don’t forget to stop by the 30 Days of Thanks post to get all the info on how to participate and to download a cute page of 30 prompts for thanks!
