Mostly, I just stand around being fantastic.
Hi! I’m Lindsay…
…a twenty-something city girl through the week and a back-to-her-roots country girl on the weekends. I have no idea how to cook, but I enjoy fine food & eating well. I once got in to {and lost} a fight with my vacuum cleaner on the stairs, but I adore a spotless house. I seem to always shrink my husband’s work clothes in the laundry and I still don’t know how to properly iron, but my wardrobe must always be hung in seasonal order and by color.
I would be the ideal housewife… if only I knew how to actually cook & clean.
Are you an internet addict, too? Find me on twitter, facebook, & pinterest.
Keep in touch? You can get my blog posts emailed to you either daily or at the end of the week, in a nice little week-in-a-day format. Additionally, I send out a pretty fantastic newsletter that you can get, too. It’s always fun, I promise!
What the blog?
Right now, I enjoy blogging about daily life, adventures, decorating/design, discovering my faith, food, and photography.
Back in 2009, I did what I call the “reverse Green Acres.” Hubs and I sold our home in the beautiful countryside and moved south to the Queen City; Charlotte, NC {I just adore a penthouse view!} When we moved, I was really, really homesick. I coped with this by staying in touch with everyone as much as I could. Sending massive amounts of emails and photos to keep in touch with all of our family got a little out of control – I tend to be chatty and take a gazillionteen photos a day, so it was decided that a blog would be a better idea than blowing up everyone’s inbox with photos over every single meal I had eaten that day.
I liked blogging. I even had a regular LiveJournal from back in the high school days during the late 90′s. Before that, I kept a regular diary since middle school {still have them all}
So, the blog was, at first, completely private and only had a few readers in our family. Finally, I got bored and frustrated that no one seemed to care too much about all of my fascinating daily adventures and cat photos, so I made the blog public. Still, no one seemed interested.
Since then, the blog has taken on many looks and went through tons of transformations. “They” {you know, the blog gods} say that your blog should have a niche, a certain topic of expertise. I tried that.
At first, it was a design blog… because that’s what I do. Then, it was a health & fitness blog… because that’s what I love. But… I’ll be honest with you, I just can’t stay on one topic for too long. I have too many interests, think too many things are pretty and have way too many hobbies. Life is my niche.
Designer Wife is a blog about life. Mostly, I just stand around being fantastic.
When I was five years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down “happy.” They told me that I didn’t understand the assignment and I told them they didn’t understand life.

Let’s make a list.
So, why the name Designer Wife? A few reasons, actually. At first, it was because I’m a designer & a wife and I was kind of going for a play on the phrase “trophy wife.” Secondly, it fit in to my mission to design a healthy, balanced & beautiful life. Win/win.
How am I designing this kind of life? Basically, I try to follow things like…
- never taking a single day for granted
- fueling my body with amazingly delicious REAL foods
- surrounding myself with beautiful things and people
- always making time for myself to relax and renew
- realizing dreams and setting goals
- laughing at life
- reading the Bible
- letting others know how much I love them
- never taking myself too seriously
- capturing memories in photo
- doing more good
- wearing cute shoes
- everything in moderation
The list is always growing and adapting right along with me.
